Feedback from 2018 AGM

30 members and friends very kindly supported this event and fed into CTC Cornwall’s plans for 2019.  Some of the key suggestions made by attendees and committee members included:

Introduction of more family rides and events – perhaps one in the spring and one in the summer – with perhaps the appointment of a welfare officer to oversee safeguarding issues;

Introduction of some evening talks by interesting speakers – especially during winter months;

Continuation of spring training rides;

Campaigning locally to improve access to Liskeard  town centre from Moorswater;

Review of CTC Cornwall membership and structure – with possible new club kit

Members also heard from the club secretary, David Byfield, of a busy and successful year with many events in addition to the regular rides, including a family Camel Trail ride, a trial of some spring training rides, a camping week end near Lydford, a long summer week end ride to Barnstaple and an autumn ride to

Hayle and back.  The recently trialled autumn day time social rides were also being well attended and would probably be repeated in the spring.  He also indicated that the club had implemented necessary changes surrounding the 2018 GDPR regulations.

The Treasurer presented the 2018 accounts and asked for further ideas on how to use funds held for club members and to promote cycling in Cornwall.  Suggestions included the family rides, perhaps a BBQ in association with the rides, and subsidised club kit.

The publicity officer, Ann Kinahan,  indicated that Cornwall Council would be meeting in early November to decide if they could support a bid to bring the opening stage of the Tour of Britain to Cornwall for September 2020.  Members indicated they would be keen to support such a proposal.

Officers were elected with no change in the status quo – please see the Your Committee tab on this site.

Following the formal business Corinne Dennis gave an interesting talk about her cycle clothing business, explaining how her background in cycling had led her to try and fill a gap in the market and to provide British made comfortable clothing that could be used both on the bicycle and when arriving at, for instance, the work place.
